Buffalo Bills add playmaking TE, defensive line in latest 2021 mock draft
Round 2: Tyler Shelvin (IDL, LSU)
While the Buffalo Bills pass defense has been the biggest concern, their run defense has struggled as well. This is probably due in large part to the absence of Star Lotulelei, who elected to opt-out of the 2020 season.
While he is likely to return next season, he will only have one year left on his contract and the Buffalo Bills should be looking to add his replacement this year. That is why a player like Tyler Shelvin makes perfect sense.
At 6’3″ and 362 pounds, Shelvin can be that player that commands multiple blockers but is able to anchor this defensive line and clog running lanes. As The Draft Network notes in the scouting report, he doesn’t provide much in terms of pass rush. However, this shouldn’t much of an issue with players like Ed Oliver and Quinton Jefferson who can rotate in on passing downs.
