4. Patrick Mahomes (QB, Kansas City Chiefs)

Last Week: 4

For the second straight week, Patrick Mahomes remains at number four after a pedestrian performance against the New England Patriots. He finished the game with 236 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He now has 1,134 passing yards with 12 total touchdowns and zero interceptions on the season.

One of the reasons that Mahomes didn’t have to throw more was that the Chiefs pretty easily controlled this game against a Patriots offense that struggled to move the ball without Cam Newton. The Chiefs defense looks much improved this year and Mahomes may not be asked to throw as much as he has had to in past seasons.

The good news is that the Chiefs continue to win as they are 4-0 and he ranks eighth in the NFL in passing yards and tied for fourth in passing touchdowns. He may not have the stats to win the award but should be in the discussion all season.
