These are some of the key takeaways from the snap counts for the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

The Buffalo Bills once again were forced to deal with injuries throughout the course of the game to key players, opening the door for other players. These are some takeaways from the Week 4 snap counts for the Bills.

Buffalo Bills Offense

The Buffalo Bills once again had Brian Winters starting at right guard while Cody Ford made his second consecutive career start at left guard. However, Winters suffered an injury and Quinton Spain returned to the field but this time playing right guard.

This is certainly notable considering Spain had played left guard since the beginning of last season and instead of moving Ford back to right guard which he played earlier this year, it was Spain. This could mean that Ford is viewed to be the long term answer at left guard.

The Buffalo Bills also appear to have a rotation at tight end with Dawson Knox and Tyler Kroft almost evenly splitting snaps in Week 4. Knox finished with 29 while Kroft played 20 against the Raiders. After a good game by Kroft against the Rams, this wasn’t all too surprising.

Buffalo Bills Defense

This was the first game for Josh Norman, who had been on injured reserve to start the year. If the coaching staff was hoping to ease him back onto the field, that thought went away quickly with Levi Wallace suffering an ankle injury after only six snaps.

Meanwhile, Norman played 91% of the team’s defensive snaps and played pretty well. This included a key forced fumble late in the game.

At defensive tackle, the coaching staff seems to be moving forward with an almost equal rotation between Harrison Phillips (41 snaps), Ed Oliver (39 snaps), Vernon Butler (36 snaps), and Quinton Jefferson (34 snaps). This is something that will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
