The Buffalo Bills saw defensive tackle Ed Oliver sit out Thursday’s practice ahead of Week 4.
The Buffalo Bills saw a number of their players trending in the right direction however one player that did not was defensive tackle Ed Oliver. He was limited on Wednesday but sat out Thursday’s practice with a knee injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted out that he has been told that there is nothing structurally wrong with the knee and it is more of a bruise. He said that the team’s starting defensive tackle is considered day-to-day. The practice tomorrow will be critical for Oliver to be available Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the Buffalo Bills have been cautious so far this season with injuries and it wouldn’t be surprising if he missed this week.
In terms of good news, the Bills had three starters return in limited action who sat out Wednesday’s practice. This group includes wide receiver John Brown, safety Micah Hyde and left tackle Dion Dawkins.
Another positive was that Tremaine Edmunds, who was limited on Wednesday, was able to practice in full Thursday. This is hopefully a sign that the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1 is behind the team’s starting middle linebacker.
There were two other players on the injury report that were able to participate in full on Thursday which is tight end Dawson Knox and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson. Knox suffered a concussion in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins and missed last week against the Los Angeles Rams. He will still need to be officially cleared but looks to have a good chance to play this weekend.
As for Jefferson, he was listed to have a foot injury and missed practice on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday. He is currently leading the defensive tackles in snaps and if Oliver is forced to miss this week should be a big part of this defense.
