Stock Up: Devin Singletary
This was the type of performance that fans expected to see from Devin Singletary this year after the way he finished last season. Last year’s third round pick earned the featured back role, surpassing Frank Gore on the depth chart, and finished with nearly 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
This season has been a bit of a different story as he split time with this year’s third round pick, Zack Moss. In Week 3 though, Singletary returned to being the primary back with Moss sitting out due to a toe injury.
He responded with 71 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards on 17 touches, which were all season highs for Singletary. One of the things that jumped out was the explosiveness was back as he made huge plays both on the ground, with a 17-yard run, and through the air, with a 34-yard reception.
It is going to be interesting to see how the breakdown is going forward once Zack Moss returns but it appears that Singletary is his best, and most effective, when he is the featured back.
