Get pressure on Jared Goff

So far this season, the Buffalo Bills defensive line has been outstanding at applying pressure to opposing quarterbacks. Through two weeks, the Buffalo Bills defense has recorded 6 total sacks with 3 in each of their two games. Notably, recently added defensive end Mario Addison, has recorded a sack in his first two games as a member of the Buffalo Bills.

To this point in his career, Jared Goff has a well-documented history of being two different types of quarterbacks, all dependent on pressure. Goff is a very capable quarterback with even better coaching staff to support him. However, if there is a disconnect between what he is prepared to face on defense compared to what he actually sees on Sunday, things typically go south quickly.

Goff is still an average improviser at the quarterback position, but he relies heavily on what Rams head coach Sean McVay draws up for him and the offense. If the Bills defense can disrupt Goff in the pocket and force him to make plays on his own, off-script, the defense should earn a turnover or two.

With all the pre-snap movement and eye candy that Sean McVay creates on offense for the Rams, Bills head coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier must preach eye discipline this week in practice so Buffalo defenders remain on their respective primary reads assignments. If the Bills defense can stay disciplined and put consistent pressure on Goff throughout the game, expect this to have a positive impact on the final score for the Buffalo Bills.
