Aaron Donald

Without question, the one player that the coaching staff needs to spend the most time on this week is defensive tackle Aaron Donald. There is a case to be made that he isn’t only the best defensive tackle but the best defensive player.

In the first two games this year, he has five total tackles and one sack but when looking back over the past three seasons, Donald has accounted for 44.0 sacks. He has made the Pro Bowl each of the past six seasons, been a first-team All-Pro the past five, and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

He is the type of player in the middle of the defensive line that can single-handedly be able to disrupt what an offense wants to do. When asked about how to slow him down, Brian Daboll had the perfect response:

There is no question that Brian Daboll knows the challenge in front of his offense this week. He has done a good job play-calling this season but the focus needs to be to ensure Aaron Donald is not in a position to make game-changing plays.
