This is a breakdown of the snap counts for the Buffalo Bills in their 31-28 win over the Miami Dolphins.

The Buffalo Bills moved to 2-0 after an impressive performance by Josh Allen, who threw for over 400 yards and helped his team come away with a 31-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins. While the end result was the same as Week 1, when looking at the snap counts for this game, there were a few distinct differences.

These are some of the top takeaways from the snap counts in Week 2.

Rotation along the offensive line

Entering Week 1, there were questions about who would start on the offensive line. However, once the game kicked off there were no questions as the Bills kept the same starting five in there for every offensive snap.

In Week 2, that wasn’t the case as the Buffalo Bills had Dion Dawkins, Mitch Morse, and Daryl Williams all play 100% of the snaps but they also rotated some players through at the guard positions.

It appeared in the second half that Brian Winters began rotating with Cody Ford at the right guard position as Ford played 70% of the snaps and Winters played 34%. There was also a drive in the fourth quarter that Ford played left guard in place of Quinton Spain, who played 95% of the snaps.

This could have been due to humid weather conditions or the coaching staff could have been trying to get Winters some snaps to evaluate a potential competition at right guard. This is certainly worth watching in Week 3.

Quinton Jefferson leads the way at defensive tackle

While Ed Oliver registered his first sack of the season, it was actually Quinton Jefferson that saw the most playing time at defensive tackle and by a significant margin. Jefferson played 63% of the snaps in Week 2 followed by Harrison Phillips (49%), Ed Oliver (48%), and Vernon Butler (39%).

This is now Jefferson’s second straight week playing over 60% while Oliver’s snaps dropped with the return of Vernon Butler and Phillips’ increase in playing time. Even though Jefferson may not be the starter, he is going to be a key part of this defense in 2020.

Snaps pretty evenly split at running back

The snaps between Devin Singletary and Zack Moss were pretty evenly split in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins. Singletary finished with 34 snaps (56%), which was six more than Moss who had 28 snaps (46%).

This is a position that neither running back has really emerged as the front runner and this trend of evenly splitting between the two backs is likely to continue through the rest of the year.
