Stock Up: Trent Murphy

It was certainly surprising to see Trent Murphy not only starting, but also on the roster. He seemed like an ideal candidate to be cut this offseason after subpar production and the Buffalo Bills could have saved over $8 million in cap space.

However, the team clearly made the right choice and Murphy carried over a strong finish from last year right into Week 1 against the New York Jets. When including the playoff game and dating back to Week 15, Murphy now has six sacks over five games.

The pass rush as a whole looked much improved with a healthy Jerry Hughes and free agent addition Mario Addison but Murphy stood out the most. The early returns look like the defensive end position should be significantly improved from last season.
