This is a recap of how the rookies for the Buffalo Bills performed in their first NFL game.

While this was the first game of the 2020 season for the Buffalo Bills, this was also the first NFL game for the rookies on this team. The lack of preseason games didn’t give these players a chance to ease into their NFL career.

The Bills had four rookies play snaps in this game but it might not have been the players most fans expected. The biggest surprise was that A.J. Epenesa was inactive for this game and it was certainly a disappointment to see for the second round pick. It is going to be interesting to see when he is able to get on the field.

Epenesa was joined by Jake Fromm as inactive for this game while seventh round pick Dane Jackson remained on the practice squad. The other rookie who didn’t play was wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins, who was placed on injured reserve at the start of the year and will miss at least the first three weeks.

This is a recap of how the rookies who did play looked in their first game for the Buffalo Bills against the New York Jets.

Reggie Gilliam

The first player is tight end Reggie Gilliam, who while listed as a tight end is more of an H-back, and was on the field for three offensive snaps. He was primarily in there for blocking, especially near the goal line.

He also did play some special teams, registering nine snaps, and this is likely where he will find most of his playing time as a rookie.
