The Buffalo Bills were able to do enough to hold on for a 27-17 win over the New York Jets.

It was a tale of two halves for the Buffalo Bills as they kicked off the 2020 season against the New York Jets at Bills Stadium. In a year with no preseason games, there were some expectations for rust or sloppy football.

However, the Buffalo Bills didn’t look like that in the first half as they jumped out to a 21-0 lead with three straight touchdown drives. The Bills kicked off the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run by Josh Allen in the first quarter and followed it up later that quarter as Allen found Zack Moss in the end zone for a touchdown pass.

The early scoring is something the Bills struggled with last year and they only had 43 total points in the first quarter all season. In the second quarter, Allen continued to be sharp with his passing and found John Brown on a slant that he took 17 yards for the score.

It wasn’t all perfect though in the first half and Josh Allen struggled to hold onto the ball with two fumbles on rushing attempts. This helped keep the Jets in the game as they were able to drive down the field at the end of the first half and get on the scoreboard with a field goal.

Buffalo Bills struggle in the second half but held on for the win

As effortless as the first half looked for the Bills, the second half was not as sharp for this team. The Bills saw rookie kicker Tyler Bass miss two field goals and the defense missed tackles as Jamison Crowder went 69-yards for the Jets only touchdown.

Crowder’s touchdown cut the Buffalo Bills lead to 21-10 but the Jets were not able to get much closer as the Bills added two field goals by Bass in the fourth quarter. The Jets did add a touchdown late in the fourth quarter for a final score of 27-17.

The good news is that the Buffalo Bills were able to come away with a win but there will be plenty to work on heading into next week’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
