How do the rookies for the Buffalo Bills play in Week 1?

In addition to veterans using the preseason game to prepare for the regular season, those games could be even more important to the rookies. This would give these players their first taste of the speed of the NFL game and how it compares to the college game.

The Buffalo Bills have three rookies that could see extended playing time in this first game, starting most notably with kicker Tyler Bass. The Bills sixth round pick won the starting job from veteran Stephen Hauschka in training camp. He is going to be the team’s only kicker on Sunday.

The other two rookies who should see playing time have to share playing time with a veteran. On the offensive side of the ball, Zack Moss is going to start as the backup to Devin Singletary but should get 10-12 touches.

On the other side of the ball, is defensive end A.J. Epenesa who surprisingly was listed as the third defensive end behind Darryl Johnson. It remains to be seen if this is the coaching staff as a way for making the rookie earn his playing time or if they don’t believe he is ready to contribute.
