These are some of the power rankings for the Buffalo Bills heading into Week 1.

The NFL season is finally here and the Buffalo Bills are preparing to take the field on Sunday against the New York Jets. This first week is going to very interesting because it is going to be the first time since there was no preseason, the Bills will be taking the field against another team this year.

This unknown has also resulted in some very interesting Power Rankings ahead of the first game of the 2020 season. This is where the Buffalo Bills rank in some other sites’ power rankings.

ESPN: Buffalo Bills rank 10th

The first power ranking comes from ESPN and the Buffalo Bills sneak into the Top 10 and reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques wrote:

"Allen was much improved in his second season (58.8 completion percentage up from 52.8%), but was still the NFL’s least-accurate starting quarterback in 2019. If he can start to win games with his arm, the Bills are a dark horse AFC contender in 2020."

This really is fair and almost all Buffalo Bills fans know that Josh Allen is the key to their success this coming season. He plays the most important position on an NFL team and this is one of the best rosters the Bills have had in years.

NFL.com: Buffalo Bills rank 6th

As for NFL.com, Dan Hanzus has the Buffalo Bills slightly higher at sixth overall.

"There may be no team in the NFL that can match what the Bills have put together in the trenches on both sides of the ball."

It is interesting to see the Buffalo Bills rank so high and they are the fourth-highest team in the AFC. Hanzus notes the depth the Bills have on both sides of the ball and this is something general manager Brandon Beane has really focused on the past few seasons.

The Buffalo Bills completely overhauled the offensive line last season with four new starters and this year focused on the defensive side of the ball with players like Mario Addison, Quinton Jefferson, Vernon Butler, and second round draft pick A.J. Epenesa.

Bleacher Report: Buffalo Bills rank 12th

Bleacher Report takes a different approach and averages three writers rankings to give each team their power ranking. The Buffalo Bills in these rankings were as high as 10th but as low as 15th for the average of 12th.

"“The Bills might not have a ton of star power, but they do have balance,” Davenport said. “This isn’t a team with a lot of weak spots. If Josh Allen can improve as a passer in 2020, the Bills are capable of not just making the playoffs again but also making some noise once they get there.”"

Davenport also notes that the Buffalo Bills success hinges on Josh Allen but also mentions the balance. This is not a team with a number of stars but they have a group of players that complement one another and fit cohesively together to form this roster.

CBS Sports: Buffalo Bills rank 7th

Pete Prisco similar to most of these power rankings has the Buffalo Bills in the second half of the Top 10 and ranked them seventh.

"The improvement of Josh Allen will decide how far they go this season. I think he makes big strides and they are a deep playoff team. The Pats’ run atop the AFC East is over."

There is certainly a trend with these power rankings that Josh Allen is the primary talking point. However, Prisco notes that if Josh Allen can take that next step forward that this is a team built for a deep playoff run.
