Buffalo Bills: Stefon Diggs misses Sunday practice due to back injury
After missing the scrimmage on Thursday, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs missed Sunday’s practice due to back injury.
The Buffalo Bills may be remaining cautious but there seems to be some growing concern for the team’s star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, as he missed another practice due to a sore back. The Bills were off Saturday and only had a walkthrough on Friday after their scrimmage on Thursday.
As Dan Fetes of 13WHAM notes, this is only slightly concerning but there is certainly reason to monitor this situation closely. The fact that he missed Thursday’s practice, which was a scrimmage and expected to try to replicate a preseason game, was a key practice for a player that joined the team in the offseason.
It would be an understatement to say Stefon Diggs is expected to be a big part of this offense this coming season. After the Bills traded four picks in the offseason, he is the unquestioned number one wide receiver and should be Josh Allen‘s top target.
The lack of workouts and preseason games could put the quarterback and his new wide receiver a bit behind in terms of timing and getting on the same page. However, the two have tried to workout when they can, including some player run workouts earlier this offseason.
One of the positives is that this is a new issue as Stefon Diggs has not missed any games during his time with the Vikings due to a back injury, according to Fox Sports.
Until there is something more definitive from the Buffalo Bills, this should just be viewed as the team just being overly cautious with their star wide receiver. While it isn’t great that he missed the most important practice of training camp, considering a number of teams have dealt with injuries this training camp due to a shortened workout period this is probably a smart move.
