These are some of the top takeaways from the first week of padded practice for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills kicked off padded practices this week, the next step in the modified training camp agreed to by the NFL and NFLPA due to the pandemic. The fact that there is no preseason games this year make these practices even more important.

The tricky part this year is that these players are competing in a practice environment but there is a few things that can be taken away from these practices heading into the next few weeks of training camp and into the regular season.

These are some of the top takeaways for the Buffalo Bills first week of padded practices.

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs showing a connection early

There is no question that the biggest question entering training camp was what king of connection Josh Allen could make with his new wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The Bills traded away multiple picks, including a first round pick in this past NFL Draft, to bring Diggs in believing he can be that top wide receiver this offense desperately needed.

The areas that Stefon Diggs excels, specifically on deep passes, should help Josh Allen take that next step in his career. However, timing and rhythm is going to be a critical part and that is something that can only come with reps.

The good news is that the early reports are that Stefon Diggs looks every bit as advertised and the two appear to be finding a good rhythm. This video was from their first padded practice as Josh Allen connected with Stefon Diggs between the numbers and in stride.

The hope is Bills fans will get to see plenty of plays like these over the course of the year.
