Buffalo Bills: Find out who Mario Addison can’t wait to play in 2020

During a media call on Friday, Buffalo Bills’ defensive end Mario Addison said he couldn’t wait to play his former teammate.

The Buffalo Bills front office and coaching staff tapped in once again to their Carolina Panthers background this offseason with the addition of defensive end Mario Addison. The veteran has been a consistent pass rusher for the Panthers over the past few seasons and is expected to help improve a part of the defense that was lacking last year.

On Friday, Mario Addison met with the media and was asked about his former teammate, and current New England Patriots quarterback, Cam Newton. He didn’t hold back in his answer and Josh Reed with WIVB tweeted out the clip.

The two players entered the NFL in the same season, 2011, but both had very different paths to get to that point. Cam Newton was the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft while Mario Addison went undrafted but was eventually signed by the Chicago Bears.

Addison would go on to play for the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Football Team before joining the Panthers in 2013 and becoming Newton’s teammate.

While Addison was able to get an up close look of Cam Newton through practice, he never has had the chance to get a sack or hit on Newton. The quarterbacks typically wear a different color jersey and players are not expected to hit the quarterback during these practices.

That certainly will change when Mario Addison and the Buffalo Bills face the New England Patriots and Cam Newton, who is expected to be their starting quarterback. This certainly is going to be an exciting matchup and with how many former Carolina Panthers are on this team, including Addison, there will likely be plenty of talking going on during the course of the game.
