This is what Buffalo Bills fans can expect from Tre’Davious White this upcoming season.

When the Buffalo Bills selected Tre’Davious White in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, there wasn’t many that could have imagined the success he has. In particular, as early in his career that he has done it.

This past season was a breakout year for Tre’Davious White when he had 58 total tackles, one sack and tied for the league lead in interceptions with six. This performance was good enough to earn him his first career trip to the Pro Bowl as well as a selection as a first-team All-Pro.

2020 season outlook for Tre’Davious White

The question now becomes what will this coming season look like? Can he replicate what he did last year?

The short answer is no but this is not necessarily a bad thing. This past season, opposing quarterbacks were willing to target Tre’Davious White and the Buffalo Bills cornerback did a good job capitalizing on their mistakes.

Entering this coming season, with the way White played last year, it is hard to imagine they throw towards him often, even though he may be covering the other team’s best wide receiver. There is a chance that Tre’Davious White could be treated similar to Darrelle Revis. He famously created Revis Island at his peak and essentially opposing quarterbacks just refused to throw his direction.

This level of respect undoubtedly limited the stats that he was able to compile. He had a career high of six interceptions and two years finished with five. However in the eight other years of his 11-year career he only had nine interceptions.

This is why I am not confident that Tre’Davious White will be able to match his interception total, or the other stats for that matter, but this is not to take away how valuable he is to this defense and where he ranks among the NFL’s best at cornerback.

Prediction: 45 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 9 passes defended
