The Buffalo Bills general manager is overdue for an extension with the team.

The Buffalo Bills signed head coach Sean McDermott to a multi-year extension that would keep McDermott as the team’s head coach through the 2025 season. McDermott’s defenses have been a major part of Buffalo’s success since he took over in 2017.

Sean McDermott will not have to worry about job security for a long time, no matter what the details of his contract are. After taking the Bills to the playoffs twice in his first three seasons, things are looking up for Buffalo’s future.

However, there is someone else that deserves credit for Buffalo’s recent success. That, of course, being general manager Brandon Beane. He has proven that he knows how to build a winner through a number of tough but savvy decisions. When he took over in 2017, Beane made the controversial move of trading key players like Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby.

At the time, many fans saw these roster moves as evidence that the team would tank in 2017. As many fans would find out, the Bills did just the opposite, reaching the postseason for the first time since the 1999 season.

Ever since then, Brandon Beane has proven time and time again that he is one of the best executives in the NFL. He has signed a number of valuable free agents including Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde and most recently traded for Stefon Diggs as well as sign Mario Addison.

Beane has also proven he knows how to draft at a high level. In only three seasons as general manager, Beane has managed to draft franchise cornerstones like Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver and Zach Moss.

Brandon Beane has helped build one of the best young teams in the league and it is time that he is recognized for his achievements. Extending Brandon Beane would help to maintain consistency within the Buffalo Bills’ front office, which should see tons of success on the field for many years to come.
