Buffalo Bills: 3 reasons Tremaine Edmunds win DPOY in 2020
Always on the field
This isn’t necessarily a stand along reason but it obviously plays a role. The Buffalo Bills linebacker never leaves the field and over the past two seasons has played 90% or more of the defensive snaps.
This type of playing time falls in line with what Luke Kuechly brought to the Panthers when Sean McDermott was the defensive coordinator. Tremaine Edmunds is the type of linebacker that can stay on the field regardless of the offensive formation.
He is the type of linebacker that can move sideline to sideline and downhill to get to the ball carrier. However, he also has the speed to drop back into coverage, covering either a tight end off the line or a running back running a route out of the backfield.
The fact that Edmunds is able to stay on the field only helps his chances to rack up the stats and make a case for being Defensive Player of the Year.
