It is clear that Josh Allen’s teammates on the Buffalo Bills have noticed a change this offseason.

This coming season is going to pivotal for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. He made strides from his rookie season to last year in a number of statistical categories. Allen saw a six percent jump in completion percentage and after a rough start did an excellent job protecting the ball, limiting interceptions.

If he continues to improve there, combined with his ability to make plays with his feet, he has a chance to be that franchise quarterback the Bills have desperately needed since the days of Jim Kelly.

However, one area that he has improved that won’t show up in the box score, and teammates have taken notice and mentioned recently, is his leadership.

“I definitely see Josh Allen taking control of the offense,” Brown said.

In addition to Brown, starting center Mitch Morse talked about the command Josh Allen has shown and the way his communication has improved entering this year.

"“I think Josh [Allen] has come really into his own coming into Year 3, it’s very cool to see. The way he’s taking command and the communication is crisp, it’s clean, it’s exciting you know the moxie he’s got even in practice.”"

It is sometimes hard for a young player to step into a leadership role but is critical for not only Josh Allen’s success but the success of the offense as a whole. The ability to communicate clearly and get players in the right spot on the same page is crucial.

This offseason has created new challenges for the Buffalo Bills but the entire NFL with virtual meetings and player-led workouts. Josh Allen put together a workout in Florida earlier this year and things like this could be the difference between wins and losses. Head coach Sean McDermott talked about Allen’s development as a leader back in June:

"“That was not an easy thing to pull off. I think it was just outstanding and then a big step for Josh Allen and his leadership,” said McDermott. “He continues to take critical steps. Just a phenomenal job.”"

Over the past few years, the Buffalo Bills have seen some of those veteran leaders, like Lorenzo Alexander and Kyle Williams retire. This had the potential of creating that void in the locker room but Josh Allen appears ready to step into that role and people within the organization have taken notice.
