Ty Nsekhe
The Buffalo Bills added Ty Nsekhe in free agency last offseason and in his limited action he showed he is more than capable to handle the starting right tackle job. The reason that Nsekhe is two fold: age and depth at the position.
Nsekhe didn’t enter the NFL until 2012 when he was 27 and had spent some time in the Arena Football League. However, he bounced around the NFL and had stops in the CFL and the AFL again until 2015 when he finally got a real chance.
Over the next four seasons, Nsekhe would be a key backup with occasional starts, 12 over this stretch. Now that he is 34 years of age, will turn 35 during the season, and entering the final year of his deal, he is likely not a long term answer to the position.
This leads into the second reason which is the Buffalo Bills now have some depth at the tackle position that they didn’t have even last year. Over the past year, the Bills traded for Ryan Bates and signed Daryl Williams. These are two players that are younger and could be long term answers if the need ever arose.
The younger talent on the roster likely pushes Ty Nsekhe off the Buffalo Bills roster this training camp.
