Buffalo Bills: Recapping the roster moves since training camp started
This is a recap of the recent roster moves the Buffalo Bills have made.
The Buffalo Bills have been very active, making a number of moves, since players began returning to training camp. Some of these moves were expected, while some were certainly unplanned and the front office was able to pivot quickly to address.
The first step for the Buffalo Bills was to begin getting down to the league mandated 80 players. However, since the Bills have Christian Wade, they are able to have 81 players on the roster due to his exemption as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway. While the team would have until mid-August to do this, if the team had over that total it would be required that they have to split the squad.
Buffalo Bills waive Ray-Ray McCloud and Garrett McGhin
The Bills started the roster cutdown process by releasing Ray-Ray McCloud and Garrett McGhin. McCloud was a sixth round pick by the Bills in 2018 but was waived prior to last season. He did return during the season but spent the year on the practice squad.
Garrett McGhin was brought in this offseason but was a longshot to make the roster. He was likely just a training camp body and with no preseason, he didn’t have much of a path to the final regular season roster.
