Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen named to ‘NFL Top 100’ for first time in his career
On Sunday night, the NFL Network began announcing their annual list of NFL ‘Top 100 Players’ and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen entered the list at 87.
The NFL Network began to announce their annual list of the ‘Top 100 Players’ for the coming season, a list that is voted on solely by the NFL players. While opinions appear to be mixed by media and fans, it is clear that Josh Allen is respected by his peers and made the list at number 87.
This past season was by far Josh Allen’s best in his career and made a number of positive improvements that should give the Buffalo Bills optimism about the future. This past year, Allen threw for 3,089 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also had 510 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
The improvements Allen made was in his completion percentage, making a six point jump from his rookie season at 52.8% to this past season at 58.8%. He also improved on the turnovers as the season went on with seven in the first five games but only two the rest of the year.
As the video clip shows, the athleticism that Allen brings to the quarterback position is one of the things that makes him so exciting to watch. The way he is able to scramble in the pocket and make something out of nothing is unique to the position and outside of a few franchises like Baltimore and Seattle, teams don’t have that type of weapon.
While it was good to see Josh Allen get recognition making this list, there is still plenty of room for improvement. The attitude he brings to never give up on a play does have it’s downfall as it also leads to possible mistakes and turnovers.
This coming season is going to be important for not only Josh Allen but also the Buffalo Bills. They are coming off a 10 win season and with Tom Brady no longer in New England, are the popular pick to win the division. There is no question that the Buffalo Bills will only go as far as Josh Allen is able to take them.
