The Buffalo Bills made some changes at defensive end after an underwhelming year last year. These are the top four questions for this group entering training camp.
While the Buffalo Bills have one of the better defenses in the league as a whole, there is still room for improvement. Last year, the Bills finished 12th in sacks with 44, however defensive ends accounted for only 17 of those sacks. In addition to the low production, the Bills also lost their leader in this category, Shaq Lawson, in free agency to the Miami Dolphins. The former first round pick accounted for 6.5 sacks last year.
The Bills front office understood they needed to add some pieces to hopefully improve the position and they did so by signing free agent Mario Addison and using a second round pick on former Iowa Hawkeye A.J. Epenesa.
These two pass rushers join a group that still includes veterans Jerry Hughes, who is the longest tenured player on the Buffalo Bills, and Trent Murphy. While both had down years, they had flashes that should give the coaching staff some confidence that they could bounce back this coming year.
