Former Bills hit the links

Kyle Williams had an extremely strong showing this weekend during the American Century Championship golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. The former Bills defensive tackle finished in second place.

The July 8th-12th tournament played host to a plethora of notable celebrities. Ranging from boxer Oscar De Le Hoya to Golden State Warrior star Steph Curry and even Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald as the championship had no shortage of talent to keep the spectators interested.

Though a list of players in the championship were repeat contestants looking for a victory, it was Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams who stole the show. Williams was at the top of the leaderboard after round one, shooting two-under-par with a 70, which earned him 25 points. The following round, Williams fell to second place as Mardy Fish, a former professional tennis player, finished his second round with five-consecutive birdies to leap-frog Williams into first place with 63 points to Williams’ 52. The final round was once again Fish’s as he finished even through 18 while Williams finished the day three-over, earning himself a second-place finish with 67 points to Fish’s 76.

Williams was not the only former Buffalo Bill to play in the tournament as Doug Flutie also participated. Flutie strung together a collection of single and double bogeys to finished tied for 62nd place alongside actor Chace Crawford.
