Interceptions

The Buffalo Bills have had a different leader in this category each of the past three years with Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer tied in 2017,  but Poyer was the sole leader in 2018 and Tre’Davious White not only led the Buffalo Bills but was tied for the league lead with six this past season.

The interception stat is tough because it not only requires a player to be in the right spot but also have plenty of opportunities to make interceptions. The breakout year that Tre’Davious White had last year could mean that opposing quarterbacks shy away from throwing his direction and would limit his opportunities to rack up interceptions.

This essentially leaves the Bills starting safeties as the likely candidates to lead the team in interceptions in 2020. When looking at both players, they are used fairly interchangeably and there isn’t one safety that necessarily always plays in the box, while the other is that center fielder type playing the deep ball.

There isn’t really one player that has a clear advantage so for the sake of making a prediction, the safety that has had the most interceptions over the three year span, Jordan Poyer, is the one that gets the nod here.

Leader: Jordan Poyer
