Buffalo Bills: 3 current players who could earn a 10-year contract
Tremaine Edmunds
The one player on the Buffalo Bills that would be a better option than Tre’Davious White would have to be middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The 16th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has stepped in as an immediate starter in a crucial position within Sean McDermott’s defense.
In the two years he has been with the Buffalo Bills, he has played over 90% of the defensive snaps, surpassed 100 total tackles both years and even earned his first Pro Bowl selection this past year.
However, the one reason that puts Edmunds over the top as the player that makes the most sense if the Buffalo Bills were to offer a ten-year deal is because he is only 22 years of age. Edmunds has two more years left on his rookie contract, three if the Bills were to pick up his fifth year option, and this would mean he is going to be in the market for a new deal at 23 or 24 years old.
Contracts that extend 10 or more years are certainly rare and it probably wouldn’t make sense for the Buffalo Bills to do so. However, if Brandon Beane were to offer one then Tremaine Edmunds would be that perfect combination of production and age to earn a decade long contract.
