Bills defensive line vs. Jets offensive line

There is no question that this game is going to be won in the trenches, especially with the Buffalo Bills new look defensive line against the Jets new look offensive line.

This past offseason, the Bills added a number of new players on the defensive line including Quinton Jefferson, Vernon Butler, Mario Addison and A.J. Epenesa. These four are joining veterans Jerry Hughes and Star Lotulelei, and last year’s first round pick Ed Oliver.

The depth the Bills have on this part of their defense is impressive and is going to be a nightmare for opposing offensive lines. The coaching staff’s ability to constantly rotate these players and not necessarily have a drop in talent is going to wear down the opposition.

This may be an issue in the first matchup, which is Week 1, because the Jets likely will have two new starters (Mekhi Benton and Connor McGovern) but as many as four if Chuma Edoga struggles at right tackle and Alex Lewis can’t hold off Greg Van Roten at left guard.

Familiarity along the offensive line is an important part of the success of unit as communication is critical. This is an opportunity for the Bills to put pressure on Sam Darnold with only four man rushes and take advantage here.
