For the second straight year, the Buffalo Bills will be opening the season against their divisional rival, the New York Jets. This is a closer look at the Jets offseason and some early key matchups.

The AFC East appears as wide open as it has been for nearly two decades and the Buffalo Bills first game of the 2020 season could end up being a pivotal one as they face the New York Jets. The two teams opened the season against each other last year and the Bills were able to squeak out a 17-16 win.

This was the start of a bad first half of the year for the Jets as they went 1-7 in the first eight games. They dealt with a number of injuries that likely played a big impact on this, specifically missing Sam Darnold for the three games after the Bills game. The franchise quarterback was dealing with mono during this time.

However, as bad as the first half was for the Jets, the second half was almost the complete opposite as they finished the season 6-2. The Jets are hoping that they will be able to build off that strong finish and it will carry over into 2020.
