Mike Bell
After the NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills signed Mike Bell who had a tryout with the team last offseason but wasn’t signed at that time. During his time at Fresno State, Bell was actually a safety but has made the switch to linebacker since entering the NFL.
It is always tough to make a position switch at this point in a player’s career but without offseason workouts to help, and for the Bills coaching staff to get a closer look, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bell cut before the start of training camp.
The Bills are going to have some decisions to make at linebacker before the start of the year. The starters are pretty well set with Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano and A.J. Klein, who is likely replacing the retired Lorenzo Alexander.
The questions lie in the depth after those starters as Vosean Joseph returns after spending his rookie season on injured reserve and Tyler Matakevich who was signed as a free agent but has primarily only played special teams. These are two players who appear to be locks on the roster which means that final spot will come down to Corey Thompson and Tyrel Dodson.
The questions the team has at linebacker doesn’t leave much room for Mike Bell to make enough of an impact to jump some of these players on the depth chart.
