If the Buffalo Bills elect to cut their roster size down before the start of training camp, these are four players that could be in that first group.

Due to the pandemic, and the restrictions in place by the NFL, this offseason has been unique and not followed the typically schedule. The Buffalo Bills have been forced to do all their offseason workouts in a virtual setting and the first time they are on the practice field is currently scheduled to take place later this month when training camp kicks off.

The NFL is constantly evaluating their schedule and one potential change is reducing the number of preseason games or even eliminating the preseason all together. According to CBS Sports, Jason La Canfora the impression he got while speaking to people in the league is that the preseason games may not be worth it.

"My conversations with executives from NFL teams this week left me with the distinct impression that these games will prove to be more trouble than they’re worth. “What is the risk-reward on playing these games?” as one top AFC exec put it."

The NFL has already cancelled the Hall of Fame game between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers and more games could be next.

If this happens NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills, could elect to begin cutting their roster down because there will not be a need for extra players with no preseason games. La Canfora quoted Troy Vincent, who is the NFL’s Vice President of Football Operations, saying “It’s a numbers game.”

The challenge for the Buffalo Bills coaching staff and front office is that there are likely players who won’t make the roster but they would want to get a closer look at during training camp. These are most likely the undrafted free agents that were signed or players who could be candidates for the practice squad.

With that in mind though, these are four players that the Buffalo Bills could likely cut before the open of training camp if there is no longer preseason games and they want to limit the number of people in the facility.
