The big news this week was the New England Patriots signed former MVP Cam Newton. However, the Buffalo Bills should still be the favorites in the division.

Earlier this offseason, the Buffalo Bills fans saw Tom Brady depart from the AFC East and head south to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This was a welcome sight after the Patriots with Brady under center dominated the AFC East for nearly two decades.

This appeared to finally be the Bills year as they were a team on the rise, with two playoff berths in the past three years, and made a splash with the addition of Stefon Diggs. The last time the Bills won the AFC East was in 1995 and they likely were in the best position to win again with how the offseason played out.

This past weekend though, the confidence seemed to wane as the New England Patriots made headlines by signing former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. The former first overall pick spent the past nine years with the Panthers and had an impressive run that included an MVP award in 2015.

While this addresses a major question mark for the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills should still be considered the favorite to win the division this year.
