New Orleans Saints

Last month, the New Orleans Saints lost defensive end Noah Spence to a torn ACL, which will cost him the entire 2020 season. The Buffalo Bills have good depth at the position and the two teams could potentially work out a deal.

Spence, a former second round pick, never lived up to expectations after three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and last season with the Washington Redskins. He was cut by the Redskins midseason and joined the Saints.

Spence was likely working towards a spot at the end of their rotation behind starters Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport but with Spence lost for the year, the Saints could be looking for depth.

The first name that comes to mind is obviously Trent Murphy, who hasn’t lived up to expectations since signing as a free agent two years ago. However, with the Saints having $8.2 million in cap space, a deal for Murphy would essentially take up the rest of it.

Another defensive end that could make sense, but would not bring back much in return, would be Bryan Cox Jr. The former Cleveland Brown and Carolina Panther was signed by the Buffalo Bills this offseason but with the depth they have he will likely be cut. This may be a perfect candidate to give the Saints some depth and the Bills get something in return instead of cutting him.
