Bryan Cox Jr.

The last player on this list is defensive end Bryan Cox Jr., who knows Sean McDermott’s defense well. The former Florida Gator joined the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2017 season, and while Sean McDermott wasn’t defensive coordinator as he was already in Buffalo, this is a defense that Cox knows well.

The Panthers defense didn’t change much as it went from McDermott to Steve Wilks so there is a familiarity for the pass rusher.

The issue is that the defensive end position is one that is top heavy at the top of the depth chart with Jerry Hughes and free agent addition Mario Addison. The Bills still have Trent Murphy, who could end up being cut or traded this offseason, as well as Darryl Johnson, who was a seventh round pick last year.

In addition to these four, the Buffalo Bills drafted A.J. Epenesa in the second round who should compete for a spot in the rotation this year. The depth the team has at the position makes it tough for a player like Bryan Cox Jr. to find a spot in the team’s final roster.
