Round 2, 37th Overall: Zay Jones, WR (East Carolina)

Trade with Los Angeles Rams: BUF sends 44th overall, 91st overall in 2017, LAR sends 37th overall, 149th overall in 2017

Buffalo made a trade up with the Los Angeles Rams and found a replacement in the slot for Robert Woods, who they lost in free agency.

A lot of Bills fans were pleased with the pick of Zay Jones, and I was in agreeance too. The receiver from East Carolina holds the NCAA Division I record for most receptions in a career with 399.

Jones has struggled with inconsistencies in the NFL, never really having an impact with the Bills in his two and a half years with the team. As a rookie in 2017 Jones struggled to make an impact producing 27 receptions for 316 yards and only 2 touchdowns. One aspect the wide receiver has struggled with throughout his career is catch percentage, Jones really struggles to manufacture targets into catches never winning the 50/50 ball. Finishing with a catch percentage of 36.5 in his first season, improving to 54.9 percent his next season, which was still below average.

His best season so far came in his sophomore campaign where he finished with 56 receptions for 652 yards and 7 touchdowns. Enjoying some great games versus the dolphins that year and not much else this season is a microcosm of what Jones career is to this point just underwhelming.

After a tough start to the 2019 season the third-year receiver was traded to Oakland where he struggled to make an impact.

Jones was thought to be a great talent coming over to Buffalo but never worked out with his inconsistent play.
