How is the workload split between the two running backs?

The general consensus seems to be that Devin Singletary is going to be the featured back of this offense and third round rookie Zack Moss is going to be the complimentary back in this backfield.

However, it wouldn’t be surprising if this becomes more of a running back by committee and the workload is split evenly between the two backs.

The fact that the Bills were willing to draft Moss in the same round they took Singletary the year is one sign that Moss may not be taking a backseat to Singletary.

Another telling sign is that Brian Daboll has split the carries pretty evenly between two running backs in the years he has been offensive coordinator. This past season Frank Gore finished with 166 carries while Singletary had 151.

The fact that Singletary missed some games due to injuries certainly played a role in this but even in 2018 the Bills had LeSean McCoy finish with 161 carries and Chris Ivory saw enough work to generate 115 carries.

There is no question that Zack Moss coming into the NFL provides more value to this offense than Chris Ivory, or even Frank Gore at this point in his career, and the rookie should get more than his fair share of work.
