Round 4, 139th Overall: Cardale Jones, QB (Ohio State)

One of the most polarizing prospects in the 2016 NFL Draft, Cardale Jones was seen as a long term project but one who had significant upside. The quarterback starved city of Buffalo were excited with the potential of Jones.

Jones was not expected to appear in any games for the Buffalo Bills in 2016. However, when the season was lost and with Ryan already fired, the Bills turned to the promising quarterback after EJ Manuel struggled early in . He performed admirably late in the game, but was tough to judge on such a small sample size going 6-11 for 96 yards and 1 interception.

A common theme; McDermott and Beane parted ways with Jones in the summer for a conditional seventh-round pick. Jones hasn’t done much since and has bounced around a few practice squads. He was most recently seen in the XFL with the DC Defenders, where he showed the most promise.
