Butch Byrd

Butch Byrd was a defensive back for the Buffalo Bills from 1964 to 1970 and a key part of the Bills team that won the AFL Championship in 1964 and 1965. He also earned five AFL All-Star nominations and three first-team All-AFL spots in his seven seasons with the team.

The amazing part of Byrd’s career is that even though it has been nearly 50 years since he wore the Bills uniform he still owns the franchise record in interceptions with 40, interception return yards with 666 yards and interceptions returned for touchdowns with five.

The fact it has been half a century since Byrd played and there has been no players who have been able to break any of these records speaks to just how good he was part of this team. There is no question that this is one player that should be included in the Wall of Fame.
