Excellent Ball Placement

Along with showing that he can unload when need be, Fromm has also shown that he can be accurate with his ball placement like he did against Notre Dame.

On a 3rd-and-long inside the Notre Dame red zone, Fromm throws a back-shoulder pass that would make Aaron Rodgers say “that’s a nice ball”. In a shotgun formation with a back to his left, Fromm sees a sea of golden helmets blitz towards him the second he snaps the ball. As a result, this leaves a one-on-one matchup at the touchdown pylon which is where his first read is. He falls back into the pocket and delivers a strike alongside the left sideline to Lawrence Cager who finds the ball just over his shoulder.

From an Xs and Os point of view, this play is perfection and is what makes Fromm such a spectacular addition to the Bills’ offense. Fromm is seen as a savant at the quarterback position, one who has a deep knowledge of why things happen and how to attack defensive formations. This deep understanding of the game of football is exactly what you want in a backup quarterback.

If Fromm had the athletic ability to beat Allen on the field, he would be the starter for the Buffalo Bills in 2020. Due to the fact that this is just not the case as Allen is superior athletically in every category, Fromm is there to help Allen mentally.

During multiple times int he NFL season last year, it is fair to say that Allen made some questionable decisions, with the lateral against the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card game being the most notable. With Fromm taking a seat alongside Allen in the quarterback room, it is expected that the knowledge that Fromm has will rub off onto Allen and Buffalo will see the same result they did during the Frank Reich and Jim Kelly era for the Buffalo Bills.
