1. Josh Allen

A lot was and is still expected of Josh Allen when he was drafted seventh overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft. Many knew he had ridiculous arm strength, but it was his accuracy issues that had scouts hesitant to believe that he could be a starter in the NFL. They were right, but aside from that, Sean McDermott has done a great job silencing all the naysayers and moulding Allen into a quarterback that the franchise has needed for a long time. Here we are in what will be his third year in the league, and Allen has already brought the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs leading them to a 10-win season.

He started as a backup to Nathan Peterman, we all know how that worked out, and ended up becoming the eventual starter. The stats were not stellar posting a 52.8% completion percentage, throwing for 2,074 yards and just 10 touchdowns versus 12 interceptions. His second year showed a huge improvement and the numbers showed where it counted most with 58.8% completion percentage, 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns versus 9 interceptions. That is impressive for a young quarterback. Sure his completion numbers can be higher, but seeing a six percent increase shows that he is moving in the right direction. The addition of Stefon Diggs should elevate that number next season.

It is hard to ignore the other skills that Josh Allen posses which a lot of other quarterbacks in the league lack. As mentioned before, he has his arm strength but he also has great leadership ability. You can see that when he is on and is taking charge of a game, the rest of the team rallies behind him and takes their game up another notch, like the Thanksgiving Game last year in Dallas. One other skill that is much talked about is Allen’s ability to extend plays using his feet. For a tall quarterback, he has some serious speed which makes him a dual threat. In his first two years in the league, Allen has rushed for a total of 1,141 yards and 17 touchdowns.

He still does have some accuracy issues to work on, but that will change. Josh Allen is at number one on this list due to the steady improvement in his game and his supporting cast will only help him become one of the best in the league. He is “armed” with enough weapons to lead the Buffalo Bills to their first division title since 1995.
