Steady Improvement

If we take a look back at where Josh Allen began his career and the level he is currently playing at, the difference is almost night and day. Allen was thrust into the starting role when it became clear Nathan Peterman did not have the capabilities to be a consistent starter in the league.

In 2018, Allen accumulated 2,074 yards passing with only 10 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. This underwhelming stat line is due to the fact that Allen missed four games because of an elbow injury suffered in a game against the Houston Texans. This setback allowed Allen to study under the tutelage of veteran quarterback Derek Anderson, which likely aided in his improvement post-injury.

In 2019, Josh Allen made huge leap in improvement by throwing for 3,089 yards with 20 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. Add in nine rushing touchdowns and it is clear to see why the Buffalo Bills believe that their young quarterback will be the face of the franchise for years to come.

If Allen can make another huge leap like he did from 2018 to 2019, it would be hard for the league to ignore his status as one of the NFL’s premiere signal caller, and Pro Bowl honors might be in the works sooner rather than later.
