Buffalo Bills: 3 position needs left to address after NFL Draft
By Thomas Gore
Outside Linebacker
The retirement of Lorenzo Alexander after the 2019 season saw the opening of a position that is yet to be filled. Alexander was a mainstay with the Bills, playing with the team for four seasons from 2016 to 2019. This season however, Father Time started to catch up with Alexander and the 15-year NFL veteran made the decision to hang it up
Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds have proven themselves more than capable of holding their own at the inside linebacker position. However, the Bills need to add a truly dangerous pass rusher to their linebacking corps in order to complete their retooling of the defensive line.
Linebacker A.J. Klein signed with the Bills in free agency this year and has proven that he can hold his own in the league after previous stints with the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. Still, after seven seasons in the league, Klein has yet to record a Pro Bowl season and has only registered 10.5 sacks in his entire career.
Behind Klein at the outside linebacker spot is Vosean Joseph who was drafted out of Florida in 2019. One thing is abundantly clear: if there is an Achilles hell on the Bills, it is the outside linebacker position.
The question then becomes who should Brandon Beane sign if he were to do so? Jadeveon Clowney is certainly the most attractive name on the market, although signing him would likely mean a significant cap hit for Buffalo.
