Bills trust in Josh Norman at cornerback

There was a couple of times throughout the NFL Draft that the Buffalo Bills had a chance to add an outside cornerback that could compete as a rookie. However, the team waited until the seventh round to add a corner in Dane Jackson but Jackson looks to fit more as a nickel.

The fact that the team wasn’t willing to draft any outside cornerbacks makes you think that the team is expecting Josh Norman to win the starting job opposite Tre’Davious White.

The Bills do still have Levi Wallace and E.J. Gaines but considering Wallace hasn’t really been able to solidify his hold on the starting job and Gaines is likely more depth due to his injury history, this creates a path for Norman to win the job.

It remains to be seen if this is the right decision as Norman has struggled the past few years while with the Washington Redskins and at 32 years of age, fans have to wonder how much is left in the tank.

The silver lining in this is that Norman’s best years was playing in Sean McDermott‘s defense, when both were in Carolina, and he could have a late career resurgence returning to this role. This is one position that is going to get a great deal of attention as we get closer to the 2020 NFL season.
