This is our quick reaction grade for the Buffalo Bills selecting Jake Fromm out of Georgia in the fifth round.

The Buffalo Bills elected to address the backup quarterback position with the selection of quarterback Jake Fromm out of the University of Georgia. Fromm was a three year starter for the Bulldogs, leading them to three SEC Championship appearances and one College Football Championship in 2018.

Over three seasons, Fromm threw 8,263 passing yards with 78 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. This move isn’t to challenge Josh Allen or put him on notice, however he is expected to come in to be the backup to Allen.

The reason that Fromm might be the perfect fit for this role is that he is a player that is praised for his intelligence and the way he approaches the game. The coaches love having a player like this in the position room even though he doesn’t have the great arm strength or even the mobility that a player like Josh Allen has.

Jake Fromm looked like a game manager during his times at the University of Georgia that needs to get into a rhythm. However, he has plenty of experience in big games and did hold on to the starting job against big prospects like Jacob Eason and Justin Fields during his time.

The best thing that Buffalo Bills fans could hope for is not to see Jake Fromm on the field this upcoming season. However, this doesn’t mean that Fromm won’t be of value to this team due to the way he approaches the mental aspect of the position. He is a player that could help Josh Allen in the position room and on the sidelines during the season.
