The Buffalo Bills will be entering the 2020 NFL Draft with the second-least draft capital in the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills are entering next week’s NFL Draft with seven draft picks however after the recent trade for Stefon Diggs, they are near the bottom of the league in terms of value.

Recently, Graham Barfield compiled draft capital for every NFL team and the Buffalo Bills are 31st out of 32 NFL teams in draft capital.

Draft pick values is something that was created by Jimmy Johnson when he was head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. The goal was to provide a numerical value to each draft pick to help determine their values when discussing trades.

While the values by Johnson don’t align perfectly to what Barfield used, they tell a similar story. Which is the Bills likely don’t have the firepower to move up, especially into the first round.

Brandon Beane confirmed that this week on One Bills Drive that he doesn’t expect Bills to move back up into the first round.

This isn’t to say that the Bills wouldn’t want to but after trading four picks, three in this year’s NFL Draft, for Stefon Diggs it took a lot of draft value to make that happen. The 22nd overall pick alone  has a value of 780 points, which is more than all the remaining seven picks the Bills have.

The good news though for the Bills is the draft values drop off significantly after the first round and this should open up opportunities to trade in subsequent rounds. The fact that the team does have three picks in the sixth and seventh round should give them a chance to move up a few spots if they see a player they really want.
