In his first extended remarks since the Minnesota Vikings traded Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills, the star wide receiver was excited to be joining the franchise and getting to play with Josh Allen.

The big move this offseason for the Buffalo Bills was working out a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The 26-year old has made a name for himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL and in a recent article with The Players Tribune couldn’t be more excited about playing in this offense and with quarterback Josh Allen.

Diggs recounts his first impression of Josh Allen, going all the way back to Week 3 of the 2018 season. This was only Allen’s second career start but Diggs remembers, as most Bills fans do, when Allen hurdled the Vikings linebacker.

"I remember being on the sidelines thinking, O.K. … this guy’s got some moxie. He just had a ton of energy and played with so much passion. And anybody who knows me knows that I’m a passionate guy. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I give everything I got every time I step onto the field.I could tell right away that Josh Allen was the same type of player. So once I found out about the trade, I couldn’t wait to go to work with him."

However, Josh Allen isn’t the only reason Diggs is excited. He writes about the fact the roster the Buffalo Bills have currently has the talent to be great.

"I already talked about Josh Allen. But then you got John Brown, who’s been a baller since he came on the scene in Arizona, and he just had the best season of his career. You got Cole Beasley, who’s an excellent route-runner and has a crazy ability to create separation. I look forward to learning from those guys and, together, taking that offense to the next level. Then you throw in a top 10 running game and a top three defense? That’s what I’m saying: This is a team that’s ready to do something special."

There is no question that the Bills have an incredibly deep roster, one that hasn’t been this talented since the early 1990s. However, the reason they have the chance to be great is because of the addition of Stefon Diggs.

This Bills offense, even with the improvements it made, still finished in the bottom half of the league. They found some great complimentary playmakers like John Brown, Cole Beasley and Devin Singletary but really lacked that star player.

That one player that opposing defensive coordinators need to game plan for and account for on the field every play. This is what Stefon Diggs brings to the Buffalo Bills as his presence not only will help Josh Allen, as he gets his go-to target, but free up coverage for Brown and Beasley.

Even the run game gets a boost because now safeties need to account for Diggs big play ability and can’t play as close to the line of scrimmage. This frees up more room for Devin Singletary, who doesn’t even need that much to begin with to make a big play.

dark. Next. Position battles already worth watching for Bills

This is exciting time to be a fan of the Buffalo Bills and as Stefon Diggs writes in his article: “And I truly believe it’s just getting started.”
