The Buffalo Bills made a blockbuster deal on Monday night by agreeing to a deal with the Minnesota Vikings for wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

The Buffalo Bills front office and Brandon Beane have been searching for that number one wide receiver since they joined the franchise and they appear to have found it Monday night. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Bills agreed to a deal with the Vikings that brought back wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided more detail surrounding the trade and the Bills sent their first round pick, 22nd overall, a fifth and sixth round pick in this year’s draft and a fourth round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for Diggs and the Minnesota Vikings seventh round pick in this year’s draft.

While the Bills don’t get the size many believed they were looking for at the position, there is no question that Diggs is a talented wide receiver. The Vikings drafted Diggs in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and made an impact almost immediately.

In his five seasons in the league, he has 365 receptions, 4,623 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns. He has gone over 1,000 receiving yards each of the past two seasons and this past year had a career high 17.9 yards per average catch.

While what the Bills sent to the Vikings is steep in terms of picks, there is alot to like about Diggs aside from just his production. He is only 26 years of age but more importantly is under contract for the next four years and his cap hit doesn’t get above $12 million any of those years.

In terms of number one wide receivers in the NFL, this is the perfect combination of youth and affordability.
