According to a report, the Buffalo Bills are among a number of teams interested in slot corner Chris Harris Jr.

The legal tampering period kicked off on Monday and within the first hour the Buffalo Bills were linked to one of the premier cornerbacks in free agency.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Bills along with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders have shown interest in cornerback Chris Harris.

This is an interesting move, and if the Bills were to sign him, it would certainly be a costly one. Harris Jr. has become one of the top slot corners in the league playing for the Denver Broncos. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and has played the past eight years with the Broncos.

Over that time, he was named to the Pro Bowl four times, a first-team All-Pro in 2016 as well as a second-team All-Pro and was key part of the Super Bowl winning team in 2016.

One of the reasons the Bills would be interested in him is that he has shown to be rather durable over his career. In eight seasons he has missed only five games over that stretch.

The team’s current slot corner is Taron Johnson, who has shown flashes at times but has struggled with injuries. He has played in only 23 games out of a possible 32 in the past two years.

If the Bills were to add Chris Harris Jr., it would likely be for a substantial contract. However, with the team adding Josh Norman and re-signing Levi Wallace for the outside cornerback position opposite Tre’Davious White, there doesn’t appear to be much weakness left in this secondary.

The Buffalo Bills will certainly have plenty of competition to sign the veteran slot corner but this move could help address a potential weakness and certainly makes sense in that regards.
