Round One, Pick 22: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE (Iowa)

The Buffalo Bills stay put in Round One and allow the board to play out for them. A player in the name of A.J. Epenesa falls into their laps where the Bills’ brass end up running to the podium with the draft card. Epenesa isn’t a sexy pick, however he might just be the type of edge rusher Sean McDermott covets in his defense.

A.J. Epenesa has a plethora of pass rush moves and has nice reach to bend the edge and attack the quarterback. Epenesa projects to be a Day One starter for whatever team pulls the trigger and adds him on draft day.

Epenesa didn’t have an all out great NFL Combine, but that shouldn’t have teams shying away from him. His production in college alone will have teams drooling to draft him.

Taking a look at A.J. Epenesa’s stats his last season at Iowa, he put up 11.5 sacks, 49 total tackles and 4 forced fumbles. In 2018 he had 10.5 sacks, 37 total tackles and 4 forced fumbles. Epenesa is a guy who’s arrow is pointing up and will wreak havoc for the Bills essentially taking the place of Shaq Lawson or Trent Murphy but adding more production then both.
