Buffalo Bills: Trade for Trai Turner is the answer at guard
The Buffalo Bills should look into the Carolina Panthers connection one more time if reports are true that guard Trai Turner is available for trade.
It is no secret that the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers have become closely connected over the years, ever since Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane joined the franchise. There have been a number of players that have joined the Bills after time with the Panthers.
For the Bills, it is time to go back to the well one more time if reports are true that Trai Turner is available for trade. According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, Turner and Cincinnati Bengals Cordy Glenn, who is a former Buffalo Bill, are being shopped around.
The Buffalo Bills currently have some questions at guard with Quinton Spain an unrestricted free agent. He joined the Bills on a one-year deal last offseason after time with the Tennessee Titans and played very well. There is no question that he has put himself in position to cash in during free agency this year.
However, if the Bills have a chance to add a player of Trai Turner’s caliber, they need to make that happen. Turner was a third round pick by the Panthers in 2014 and Brandon Beane knows him well being apart of the Panthers’ front office at that time.
He quickly became a stabilizing force along an offensive line that seemed to be in constant turmoil and has been named to five straight Pro Bowls. He also has experience blocking for a mobile quarterback trying to protect Cam Newton for most of his career.
In addition to the strong play, Turner could be viewed as a bargain in terms of contract. He has two years remaining on a four year contract extension, worth $45 million signed prior to the 2017 season.
The combination of his contract, the fact he is only 26 years of age and has already shown he can play at a high level makes him the perfect trade target for the Buffalo Bills.
